skip through the first 3 minutes if you want

i made this video to show how someone can easily record dayz gameplay with decent video quailty, that looks fine when upiloaded on youtube. its much less of a performance hit than using fraps. hopefully this info can be of use to some oldschool players who want to find a way to record that doesnt affect their gameplay, and still gets good results. maybe there are some peoplel that wanted to record but just couldnt work out which program to use, or how to set it up well.  follow the video and you shoudl be all fine. depending on what pc you are running you might have to make some small adjustments, although this will work for the majority

Server Events / objective based event idea with teams?
« on: March 26, 2015, 04:10:33 PM »
1 team starts at orlovets 1 team starts at polana, fight for control of the 'factory' construction site between those towns, whoever is alive and inside the walls at the end of event is winner, noone can go inside the walls of the factory until event has been started for  15 minutes.

edit: could be anywhere on map this location is just quick idea for the objective

10 months later edit - after i posted this idea, i stopped gaming for a while and just completely forgot about the idea, so sorry to anyoen who was actually interested. these days i dont want to plan or join planned events, i prefer the normal game experience cheers

Oldschool DayZ Hardcore Server / shoutbox suggestion
« on: March 03, 2015, 11:59:58 PM »
this is my suggestion, if you dont agree, theres no need to hate on me or the idea pls, this is just what i think.
suggesting a rule where you are not allowed to talk about other peoples position on the map in shoutbox.

if you want to give your own position to someone, for example, "ok il meet you at x location", that would be acceptable
if you type in shoutbox "i just got killed 2 minutes ago. there is someone camping inside x location", that would be against the rules.

with the example, the guy camping could be at an unfair disadvantage if he stays in that position for any further length of time, he could get killed because someone read his position on the forum and happened to be in area .

i made this topic now, because i saw someone type that someone is camping inside a barrack at a military base, and how there a noob or bad player for camping barrack , etc etc.

people type this type of thing all the time, they get killed, and they give their killers position away on the shoutbox global chat,

that person could be in there for a number of reasons, he could have spotted them approaching the base, and got into a perfect position that he knows they will be arriving at,  , he coudl be hiding there because he saw someone else, he could be there because hes hiding while hes bandaging from a zombie and hes worried about who else just heard that, he could be actually looting the barrack, and happened to see your approach through a window, or he could be actually straight up camping that barrack non stop, aiming down sights, no movement , pure commitment (haha that would be pretty crazy tho).
i knwo myself that i have been looting a barrack, heard someone kill a zombie, shoot a rifle, or talk, whatever, and i have gone prone and covered the door, its sometimes the correct thing to do.  im sure other players have done the same thing.

even someone typing, "sniper in cherno now, watch out" is removing suprise and danger for any player who reads it, and is in cherno.

i wonder who understands where im coming from, about how it can subtract from the  gameplay? i wrote on another topic that shoutbox should be removed, of course its not up to me, but i think this rule could be the better solution anyway, still allowing people to communicate if they want to, but without spoiling any of the the realism/danger element of the game in a way that can make things unfair.
of course squads and friends can still communicate in other ways as they do,

obviously most of the regulars on here want a realistic and authentic dayz experience, and the way i see it, theres nothing hardcore about global chat, especially when its used to give away peoples positions to potentially everyone on or off the server. anyway i think thats just about got my general idea across, thanks for reading, if you have ..
