Oldschool DayZ Hardcore Server / Re: "Beta". And now?

Hopefully the player count stays high after the free weekend and beyond, but with the current state of the game and the official servers I'm doubtful. Sadly.

As much as I'd love to run the server I have no trust in the current state of the game and I lost all trust in the devteam.

I understand why there's no Old School server at the moment, I respect that. Me and several of my friends are in dire need of a good private server (like this one), to actually play DayZ at all. This was our go-to SA server, just like DayZero was for us in the MOD. Not too much of a deviation from the original vanilla experience but stable, secure, whitelisted and with the same recurring and active playerbase. That's what made DayZ, especially the MOD, great! Public servers are just too...general. There's no motivation to progress your character or explore and interact with the world/community progression around you. Because the next day the server, playerbase, world progression, all, will be different. There's no real persistence so to speak. So, what's the point?

We've been looking all around for a good, 1PP, hardcore server since 0.63 but with no luck. For me, it's sad to see these "MAX LOOT", "NO STAMINA," or "SO HARDCORE THAT YOU ARE F*CKED ANYWAY" servers. I hope the devs come to a solution quick so we can see the return of Old School DayZ soon!

Not gonna happen anytime soon. They did not manage to fix the admin logs, so there is no reasonable way to find hackers.  Yes, there are mods that can produce stats, however as they are scripted they affect server performance, so this also affects your gaming experience (slomo zombies, jumping over fences not working,...). One of the major assets of Oldschool was being a rather hackerfree server.  This is not possible at the moment.

Also I am not sure if the game pulls enough returning and new players that we can fill up a server for longer than 5 weeks.

As much as I'd love to run the server I have no trust in the current state of the game and I lost all trust in the devteam.

Not saying that things might change in 2019.

Release today. I must admit I fear that DayZ will not regain it's former glory if Oldschool is not open for buisness during these jump starts.

Fixed your post.

Hello Survivors,

let's get straight to the point: It is time. DayZ is going to leave Early Access with a PC 1.0 update on December 13th, after almost exactly 5 years in open development!

Everyone on our team has been working hard and will continue for this remaining week to deliver the best launch version we can. With the BETA last month, we've seen the return of the first vehicle and item stashes, as well as the premiere of DayZ base building, the release of server files and the beginning of Modding Support. The most recent Experimental Update has returned horticulture to the game, making survival within your base more autonomous, and allowing the return of the full hermit play style.

Backed by the underlying engine changes introduced with the BETA, the 1.0 launch should feel like a fresh new start for anyone who has not played DayZ for some time - so let your friends know that they have a game to play on December 13.

Keep following us for more events and information over the course of the next two weeks!

See you in Chernarus!

Just to add my opinion to n4ttl's original post. I do not think any paid DLC will be coming for the missing content.

N4ttl I have linked your post in my post on the DayZ Forums: https://forums.dayz.com/topic/240818-i-think-it-might-be-a-grave-mistake-calling-this-beta/

Hope that's okay.

However setting up Oldschool server will not change the fact that the kids will rather stay in the queue of the "cool servers" the whole evening than join Oldschool
