I heard this server is whitelisted, what does it mean?

A whitelist is a list with player ids, only players on this list are allowed to play on the server.

Which benefits does the whitelist bring?

First and foremost it is an effective prevention against hackers and other cheaters, as they have to register in order to play. It also brings the community together in this forums.

How do I register for the whitelist?

There is a tutorial which explains how to get whitelisted. It can be found here: http://oldschooldayz.net/index.php/topic,156.0.html (http://oldschooldayz.net/index.php/topic,156.0.html)

I registered for the whitelist but I still cannot join the server, why?

The whitelist is updated with every regular server restart. Server restarts are all 6 hours at 2 am CET, 8 am CET, 2 pm CET and 8 pm CET. The whitelist is NOT updated when the server restarts because of a crash.

It is weekend and I just registered. I do not want to wait 6 hours. Can’t you make an exception and add me to the whitelist?
No. No whitelist updates on demand. We have thousands of subscribers and cannot make exceptions for everybody.

I whitelisted a couple of days ago and I think I did everything correct, however I still cannot join. Can you help me?

Please check if you made all steps correctly. Is your GUID correct? Are you a verified player? All conditions must be met to get on the whitelist. Read the tutorial again: http://oldschooldayz.net/index.php/topic,156.0.html (http://oldschooldayz.net/index.php/topic,156.0.html)

I applied for the verified players group but got a rejection saying something like: “REASON INSUFFICIENT. PLEASE TRY AGAIN WITH A BETTER APPLICATION TEXT”.  Why am I going to be rejected?

The application text helps us to decide if you are of good character and worth joining this community. We wanna know who you are and why you wanna play on Oldschool. Maybe you tell us a little bit about your playstyle or your expectations you have from this community.Applications like “I wanna play here because my friends play here” or “Whitelist pls” are NOT sufficient and will be rejected without second thought.

What is a GUID?

The GUID or Global User Identification is a 32-character long hash-key. It is a representation of your steam-64id. The GUID is used by Battleye (BEC) to identify players. It used both on the whitelist and on the banlists.

How do people get banned on Oldschool DayZ Hardcore?

You can get banned, if you violate the server rules. http://oldschooldayz.net/index.php/topic,11.0.html (http://oldschooldayz.net/index.php/topic,11.0.html)  There are temporary and permanent bans. Temporary bans are usually for 3, 7 or 30 days and are a penalty for bad behaviour like event crashing, swearing at other people, etc.Permanent bans are … permanent. They are here to keep the cheaters OFF this server.

I have seen several Ban-Codes when people get banned from the server. What do they mean?

Currently there are seven ban codes. ODH #001 - #005 are bans imposed by the admin team, ODH #006 and #007 are bans from external sources

ODH #001 ADMIN BAN : cheating/hacking  -- the usual hacker, be it teleporting, ESP etc.
ODH #002 ADMIN BAN : cheating/ghosting – not used at the moment because we have only one server ATM
ODH #003 ADMIN BAN: cheating/gear copy -- duping
ODH #004 ADMIN BAN – general admin ban for bad behaviour, event crashing etc.
ODH #005 ADMIN BAN: cheating/wall glitching – the name says it all…
ODH #006 BLACKLIST – a list of bans we share with other popular servers and Bohemia Interactive (DASt)
ODH #007 GLOBAL BAN #xxx  -- the DASt master ban list

I am new to the server, registered and when I wanna connect I get kicked. It says that I am banned. Why?

We share a blacklist with about 70 of the most popular servers worldwide. If you are banned, then there is most probably a reason for it.

Also do not think we are stupid: if you get banned with one account and have another one, of course, the other GUID is also banned. We can cross-reference your data to find you, hackers.

Is there a way of redemption to get off the banlist?

If you have got a temporary ban, there was a reason for it. We are not unreasonable and there is no ban without reason. Accept your punishment! After it expires we welcome you back to the group as a normal member.
If you are a hacker or cheater, there is no way of redemption. We do not want to have your kind on our server. There are hundreds of public servers where you can enjoy your inferiority complex and your too small penis.Making a donation will not change our mind.

I heard about Oldschool VIPs. What is it?

If you donate EUR 5.00 or more you become an Oldschool VIP for 30 days. You get access to reserved slots, which means when the server is full, you have a higher chance than other other players to get on to the server. Read  for more information http://oldschooldayz.net/donationsnew.php (http://oldschooldayz.net/donationsnew.php)
Title: Re: Frequently asked Questions

I donated 5 bucks, but I am not Oldschool VIP. Why?

We use Paypal as donation system. Paypal takes your email-address to identify you. In order to know which donation goes to which player we cross reference the email-address from the donation with the email-address you used to register to the forum. IF you used two different email-addresses, we cannot put things together. There is a new field in your forum profile which is called Alternate Email address. Use this for your Paypal address. If it does not work, please contact one of the administrators.

At the moment the Oldschool VIP system is not automated yet. So we have to update the donationslist manually. So give us up to 48 hours until it works. The 30 days counter starts from the day we added you to the list.

I read about ODC. What is it?
The ODC is a parsing tool for the Admin-Log files that are created by the DayZ Standalone Servers. It allows DayZ Standalone admins to parse the admin log files to get information about players thus making it a very useful tool to find hackers and cheaters on your server.

Features

-Parsing of multiple server admin logfiles
-Show various information about players like
    -Steam-Id
    - GUID
    - Kills
    - Deaths
    - KDR
    - Total Time played
    - Kills per hour
    - Find Combat Loggers
    - Find Bambikillers
    - Export player information via CSV
       and much more

The Oldschool DayZ Commander is a work in progress. It is developed by N4ttl, admin and owner of Oldschool DayZ Hardcore.

It is in use by most popular servers like UN, DayZ Underground, UKA, Blue Waffle Attacks and of course, Oldschool DayZ Hardcore
You can download it here: http://wl.oldschooldayz.net:8080/wiki?name=Downloads (http://wl.oldschooldayz.net:8080/wiki?name=Downloads)

And no, currently it is not allowed by Bohemia Interactive to share the results of  any killlogs. It might be allowed once the game gets beta.

Why isn't there nighttime on the server?

In its current state, there is not such a thing like nighttime in the DayZ Standalone. When I say this I mean "real" nighttime -- pitch black, only light sources being the stars and the moon. As it is still possible to just turn Gamma to max and and have viewing distances and light conditions like on a cloudy day, we see no sense in providing a nighttime experience. People not exploiting the gamma glitch would be at a horrible disadvantages against players using it. Unless DayZDevTeam does not address this glitch, there will be no longer nighttime on the server. However we sometimes configure the server that there is sunset and early nighttime at the end of a server cycle.

Why isn't it raining? Why is it raining? Why is the sun shining all the time? Why is the sun not shining all the time?

We have no influence on weather conditions on the server. This config options are still very limited. We hope this will change in the future when DayZ Standalone reaches Beta.

I accidently glitched into a wall or a rock and cannot get out. Can an admin teleport me out of this wall glitch?

No we can't! You have three options:

Option 1: Let your character starve to death and start a new character.
Option 2: Place a ticket with the feedback tracker at Bohemia Interative: https://feedback.bistudio.com/ (https://feedback.bistudio.com/) They will help you eventually, it might take some time though (couple of days)
Option 3: Log in, start running and disconnect your computer from the Internet. Your character will stay in game until timeout. During this time there is no colission dedection and the character can run through massive objects. Reconnect your internet, log in, you should be outside the obstacle you were stuck. Warning: DO NOT ABUSE THIS! When we find out, you are abusing this for will glitching to kill other players, you will be permanently banned from this and about 70 other popular servers!

I have a second account. How can I get whitelisted with the second account?

Second and third accounts are basically an unfair advantage over other players who do not have this benefit of quickly switching to another character. It is not forbidden but many players consider it as cheating. However there are reasons why somebody has several accounts: perhaps you are a streamer or you just have an account for group play and one for lone wolfing. If you have a second account, just register another forum account and go through the usual whitelisting process.

What kind of playstyle is allowed on Oldschool DayZ Hardcore? Is it a RP server? Is it a PVP server?

Oldschool DayZ Hardcore is about freedom. As long as you do not break the server rules, every playstyle is allowed. We have a long tradition as a PVP server, so there are a lot of PVP squads on Oldschool. But there are also lots of roleplayers on Oldschool too. There are survivors and traders. You might never meet them when you are just running up and down the coast. The  only playstyle we do not like is coastal gameplay... its not disallowed but real Oldschoolers are up north.

What is the north?

The north is the central PVP area on Oldschool. Its classical boundaries are Rogovo/Pogorevka/Green Mountain in the south, Mishkino tents in the west, Bashnya in the north  and Old fields/Stary Sobor in the east. Areas of interest are VMC (Vybor military compound), Myshkino tents and the NWA (North West Airfield).  With the new Tisy military base in the far north west the north includes now this area too.

Apart from Tisy this does not sound north to me, its more center/west of the map. Why is it called up north?

Back in the days of the DayZ mod there was not much to be found north of the NWA apart from square kilometers of forest. So Stary Sobor was one of the northernmost  towns in Chernarus. Only Grishino and Petrovka (a small village in the mod, in the Standalone it became Novaya Petrovka) were further north. North of Bashnya there was just trees. So when people went to the NWA or Stary Sobor for PVP they went "up north".

We honour this tradition and continue to use the term "north" for this area. We are the only server for DayZ Standalone that provides you with excellent authentic PVP in the north :)

Who are the people behind Oldschool DayZ Hardcore?

The Admin Team is:

Aim-iliO: the black cowboy -- he is a living DayZ wiki and is responsible for public relations and is the nice guy always helping you. And yes, he dies in game at least once a day for being friendly.
Daniello: recently not here so often, but he is the guy that provides us with the teamspeak server.
Roter Ballon: if you write your application for whitelisting, there is an 80 % chance that your application is approved or denied by him. He is also our major TS-admin.
[PK]Affe: the nice guy who is always around. Also one of the few remaining original Peacekeepers on the server
Borsuk: Our newest member. He is a fanatic when it come to hunting down hackers and cheaters. Be aware!

And of course me... N4ttl

Where can I hide barrels?

Allowed: it is allowed to put barrels into trees and bushes so that they cannot be seen from the outside. This is considered hiding stuff in underbrush and thickets.

Forbidden: any glitching of barrels in non-accessible parts of objects like buildings (ie. room glitching),  piles of debris, rocks, water etc.

If we find out that you are glitching barrels your camp will be destroyed, loot will be thrown away so that it despawns or get picked up by anyone who finds it. You will receive a warning. Should we catch you again using glitches like that you risk getting banned from this server and all member servers of the DaST.
